CHIPPEWA FALLS, Wis. – Authorities say a 10-year-old girl has been detained in a child's death in northwestern Wisconsin.
Chippewa County Sheriff Jim Kowalczyk said that the girl is in youth care.
Kowalczyk said the sheriff's department called on Tuesday from a caretaker at the daycare center in Wheaton, reported WQOW TV. The caller said a 6 month old boy blew from his head and did not answer.
The infant was pronounced dead at a hospital in St. Petersburg. Paul, Minnesota. Kowalczyk said that the girl told the police that she injured the child.
The girl appeared on Monday in the Chippewa County Circuit Court. The cash bond was set at $ 50,000.
Wheaton is located approximately 85 miles east of St. Paul.
