The Coin Jacket was killed on Bowbridge Road, Newark, Nottinghamshire.

People highlight it as an example of the pollution hazards of plastic and show why it is so important to take home hills.

Newark and Sherwood District Council leader David Lloyd said, "This was a completely inevitable tragedy that shows the ultimate consequences of someone just damming a cheap carrying bag and absolutely no consideration for any damage it may cause to wildlife or the environment.

"It seems that this poor creature accidentally got his head in the carrying bag and could not break free.

"Its vision would have been seriously worsened and it may unfortunately have gone into the path where it ended.

"Simply the bag had not been dumped, so the deer would almost certainly still live.

"This illustrates the importance of the Council's" Cleaner, Safer and Greener "campaign that highlights junk litter in our district and encourages everyone to take responsibility for being properly damaged."

Thousands of animals and marine life die every year due to irresponsibly removed plastic bags.

Animals can accidentally climb into plastic bags and choke, or try to eat them and choke.

Fines of up to 2 500 kronor may be imposed on judges court for persons suspected of dropping coal on the street.

A spokesman for RSPCA said: "This is a very sad incident and another example of how dangerous coal is for the wilderness.

"Every month, our officials, zoos and hospitals deal with hundreds of cases where animals have been taken up – and even dead – from barren wasted items.

"An animal's life could be saved if public members picked up and surely got into a litter that they saw."
