NI Coronavirus: Another seven deaths and 533 new cases reported by DoH

The Department of Health has reported seven more coronavirus-related deaths.

According to the latest update, four of the fatalities are said to have occurred during the current reporting period, while the other three deaths occurred outside the current 24-hour period.

The death toll in Northern Ireland is now 954, according to DoH.

Wednesday’s update of the instrument panel reports another 533 positive cases of the virus, which means that the total number of positive cases amounts to 50,676 since the pandemic began.

In the last seven days, the department says that 2,421 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 443 Covid-19 patients in hospitals and 36 in intensive care.

In the meantime, a coupon scheme for staycation will be rolled out “when the time is right” to help tourism in Northern Ireland, says the Department of Economy.

Funding was awarded in September for the £ 50 coupon.

It can be used in a number of participating companies and continues to be developed by Tourism NI.

Minister of Finance Diane Dodds has not confirmed whether the coupon will be per person or household.
