Ford has announced the development of a giant petrol V8 with a displacement of over seven liters. The secret Megazilla project was announced by Ford Performance Lead Engineer Mike Goodwin. The new engine will be based on the 7.3 Godzilla aspirated lower shaft, which is installed on the Super Duty mics.
The fact that Ford is involved in a project with a huge petrol V8 became known from a video from the Performance Racing Industry channel. The features of the future power unit are kept secret, but it is known that it will be more productive than the 7.3-liter Godzilla engine with a return of 436 horsepower and 644 Nm.
As the Godzilla V8 is an engine for light trucks and heavy pickups, the suction engine has a solid safety margin. A Whipple compressor, for example, allows you to increase efficiency by 60 percent at the same time without losing reliability. However, Ford Performance engineers are unlikely to install a compressor and will find a way to increase power and torque while remaining true to the naturally aspirated design.
Godzilla 7.3 V8 is a fairly modern unit with a carbon inlet manifold, aluminum heads, variable valve timing and multi-point injection. However, advanced solutions did not affect the simplicity, reliability and value for money, as the price of the complete engine is only $ 8150.
