Zurich (awp) – Swiss Airlines continued to grow in October: 1.62 million passengers flew with the Lufthansa subsidiary, 6.2 percent more than the year before. Throughout the Lufthansa Group, the number of passengers increased by 9.0 percent.
The utilization of the flights measured by the seat load factor improved by 0.7 percentage points, which Swiss announced on Friday. Thus, on average 84 sites were 84.7. The airline also performed a total of 13%, even 5.9 percent more flights. Thanks to its renewal of the fleet, Switzerland can use larger aircraft to save flights and make better use of the machines.
However, in the winnings front, dark clouds have recently risen: the higher oil price leads to more expensive kerosene, which dampens operating profit. Therefore, and due to positive one-off effects in the same quarter of last year, operating profit for the third quarter decreased by 10 percent, as reported by Swiss at the end of October.
