Adria Airways and the Russian Civil Aviation Production Company Suhoj signed a letter of intent on a long-term lease agreement of 15 Suho Superjet 100 aircraft. The first Adria will be delivered early next year. The company also signed a Memorandum of Understanding on the establishment of an organization for the maintenance and repair of these aircraft models at Ljubljana Airport.

CEO Suho Aleksander Rubcov, Director of Adria Airways Holger Kowarsch and CEO of AA Aviation, through which Adria is owned by the German company 4K Invest, Martin Vorderwülbecke, marked the signing of the agreements as the opening of a new chapter for strategic relations between the parties.

"We are very pleased with the cooperation with the Suhoj company as it will fully support Adria Airway's development strategy. Over the past two years we have analyzed the type of Suhoj superjet 100 aircraft and found that all the technical and operational features of this flight fit perfectly to our strategic goals, says Kowarsch. Using these aircraft, it would be possible to provide more capacity on CRJ and Airbus aircraft to hire an aircraft with a crew.

Adria Airways: The Agency's decision is not an extra measure

Rubtsov emphasized that they are aware that support for these aircraft models should be organized thoroughly and professionally when they enter the European market. "Together with Adria Airways, we will create a joint maintenance and service organization for these aircraft at Ljubljana Airport, which will ensure the reliability of these aircraft in Europe," he added.

Adria Airways currently operates flights with three Airbus A319s, eight Bombardier CRJ900s, three Bombardier CRJ700ERs and six Saab 2000 aircraft.

Russia's regional aircraft is used for 10 years

The dry superjet 100 aircraft accommodates from 87 to 108 passengers. The aircraft began to develop 18 years ago, assisted by US Boeing, and the first flight took place in 2008. Boeing informed Suho about development, manufacturing, marketing, certification and support.

The two 30-meter aircraft are powered by a low 30-meter airplane, with a maximum range of 4500 kilometers.

As the first European airline, Suho's aircraft was used by CityJet Irish Carrier and also employed by Brussels Airlines. The Superjet 100 flight last year celebrated its 10th anniversary of its active use in the aviation industry.
