The number of patients increased by almost 50 percent



In total, doctors registered 38 098 acute respiratory diseases (ARO). Morbidity compared to the previous week increased by 33.5 percent.

Bratislava, November 9 (TASR) – The number of flu-like diseases during the 45th week increased by 49.4 percent in Slovakia. Doctors reported a total of 2,990 cases of influenza and similar diseases (CHPO). The highest morbidity was recorded in the Trnava region, the lowest in the Bratislava region. As TASR informed the chief hygienist SR Ján Mikas, the age group for CHPO children was the most common within five years.

The highest morbidity was recorded in the Bratislava region, the lowest in Žilina. As Mikas further informed, the children's most common disease was five years. Influenza vacation was reported at a kindergarten in the Trenčín region.

Influenza season lasts from the 40th calendar week of the year to the 18th calendar week of the following year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). It is characterized by increased disease in acute respiratory diseases, including flu and related diseases. In the case of influenza, annual vaccination is the most accessible and effective specific protection available to epidemiologists. Slovakia is covered by all health insurance companies. The best time to vaccinate is during the fall and winter months until the outbreak of influenza epidemic.

Influenza virus spreads mainly through air when coughing and sneezing. Not all cold or cough, however, automatically means that a person has the flu. It comes suddenly and is followed by high temperatures, even over 40 degrees. Different complications can also be associated. Antibiotics do not work with the flu itself.

Influenza disease in Trenčín region increased by 62 percent

Doctors in Trenčiansky samosprávny region (TSK) reported 4060 acute respiratory diseases this week, a morbidity of 8.47 percent compared to last week. Trnčianska regional hygienist Ľudmila Bučková is informed.

Of the total number of diseases, 219 flu illnesses increased, 62 percent of flu illnesses. Influenza this week in the TSK was most worried for adolescents from 15 to 19 years.

The highest acute respiratory disease was reported this week in the TSK in Trencin, where it reached 1880 in 100,000 inhabitants. The lowest disease – 966 diseases per 100,000 inhabitants were in the Partizánske district. For the flu, this week they had to stop learning in a kindergarten in the district of Nové Mesto nad Váhom.
