SINGAPORE – The High Commissioner of the Republic of Malaysia has described an online news article linking Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong with the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) scandal as false news and difficult.
The Wednesday (Nov 7) article was published on The Coverage website, which describes itself as a "social news network based in Malaysia". The source for the article was listed as "Straights Review" and was linked to a similar article on the States Times Review site.
In response to questions from the Malaysian media, the Singapore High Commissioner in Malaysia referred to the article entitled "Breaking News: Singapore Lee Hsien Loong Becomes 1MDB's Main Investigation Goal – Najib signed several unfair agreements with Hsien Loong in exchange for money laundering" and said: "The Republic of Singapore High Commission in Malaysia would categorically say that this article is false news and clearly insulting. "
