On Wednesday at a press conference for the upcoming ONE: Heart of the Lion event, ONE announced two eight-man tournaments (airweight and lightweight). Each tournament is easy elimination, and it will run throughout the year with quarter final, semifinal and final on-site at separate events.

Current world champion with organizations can participate in the field, per A CEO, CEO Chatri Sityodtong, but the competitors have not yet been completed. The matches depend on the outcome of upcoming matches, such as the ONE Lightweight title between Eduard Folayang and Amir Khan at ONE: Conquest of Champions November 23 in Manila.

The lightweight tournament will include Alvarez, a former Bellator and UFC champion. He & nbsp; did not talk to the tournament, but another recently acquired ONE Championship athlete did. Former UFC Air Force Champion, Johnson, recently acquired in a trade with UFC for Ben Askren, was on the press.

"When I had the opportunity to become a ONE & nbsp; athlete, I could not handle that opportunity," Johnson said. "Now that they have announced a global GrandPrix for the Air Force Division, it has always been my dream to compete in Asia in a Grand Prix. I'll give my best. I will not take any shortcuts. I'll train my ass. will come here and hopefully the goal is to become a champion. I know the Airweight Division here – & nbsp;gejë [Eustaquio], & Nbsp;Kairat [Akhmetov], & Nbsp;[Danny] Kingad and & nbsp;Adriano Moraes, these guys are tough, but I seem to meet these guys. "

Both Alvarez and Johnson are likely to be favorites to win their respective tournaments, but we still have to see which fighters fill in the brackets. One can not be made to get talent, and current members of their roster are likely to see the prospect of meeting newcomers as a challenge.

As more information about the tournaments becomes available, I & nbsp; details.
