Man United suffer double injury against West Ham

REUTERS: Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said that both Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial were replaced during Saturday’s 3-1 victory against West Ham United due to muscle injuries.

The Uruguayan striker Cavani, who made two substitutions against Southampton last weekend, served as the central striker against West Ham, but did not come out for the second half at London Stadium.

The French striker Martial was forced off the pitch after 62 minutes and was replaced by Juan Mata.

Solskjaer confirmed that both strikers will be scanned ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League meeting with RB Leipzig, where United need a draw to qualify for the 16-year-old.

“It’s unfortunate … sometimes you get muscle injuries. We lost Anthony and Edinson,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports. “There’s a game already on Tuesday. But it will probably be (like this) this season.

“Some games we have to do without players and I’m glad we have the changes we have.”

After Tomas Soucek put West Ham ahead, goals from Paul Pogba, Mason Greenwood and substitute Marcus Rashford helped United manage a fifth straight consecutive season in the league.
