Denver City Council Oc's plan for safe injection site needs the state's final approval

DENVER – Denver City Council voted 12-1 to approve a plan that would allow a safe injection site to be built in Mile High City.

However, action still needs to be taken to actually open one in Denver. State legislators must pass a law to allow public money to finance sites in Colorado.

Safe injection sites should provide drug users with a monitored site to use hard drugs such as heroin and cocaine. It would also keep drug users from using in public places and advocates of the idea say that websites also reduce the disease and save lives from drug overdoses.

Opponents of the thought claim that it allows drug users to continue their addiction and even encourages drug use.

If it receives final approval, Denver would be among several US cities to get the seats.
