Children with more screen time are at higher risk



Medics claims there is "convincing evidence" that spending glued to television, computers and smartphones burns childhood obesity, The sun reported.

The World Cancer Research Fund report noted increasing exposure to smartphones, tablets and game consoles in childhood drives long-term weight gain – identified as one of the major causes of cancer

Caroline Cerny, of the Obesity Health Alliance, also warned to eat too unhealthy food and drink, with sedentary lifestyles contributing to weight gain and obesity.

"We also know that when children spend time in front of screens, they are bombarded with junk food," said Cerny.

"This new report highlights the dangers of unhealthy lifestyles and children's exposure to advertising."

According to NZ Herald, the new analysis looked at 80 studies with more than 200,000 people to investigate the causes of increased obesity and identified screening time in childhood as one of the prime sins.

It follows that findings from the WRCF link are overweight or overweight to 12 common types of cancer including breast, prostate, fat, liver, ovarian, kidney and pancreas.

"Eating too much unhealthy food and drink, with sedentary lifestyle, contributes to obesity and obesity – so much is clear. We also know that when children spend time in front of the screens, they are bombarded with junk food ads," Cerny said.

Sophia Lowes, from Cancer Research UK, warned obese children every five times more likely to be obesity as an adult, "which is worrying as they will then increase the risk of 13 different types of cancer."

"That's why it's important that we watch a 9pm dusk on junk food ads on TV and similar protection for kids watching ads on request and online."

About two out of three adults are now overweight or overweight.

The report warns overuse of sweet drinks and junk food also burns obesity, which increases the risk of cancer.

The study also found breastfeeding children were less likely to become overweight.
