Carragher reveals which two players Liverpool misses most

Jamie Carragher is convinced that Liverpool can now rely on their defense to win games despite missing two major attacking players.

Jurgen Klopp's men have had their best ever to start a Premier League campaign, win 10 and draw three of their 13 openable matches.

They score fewer goals than last season but have improved dramatically in defense, matching leader Manchester City with an impressive five goals.

And former Reds defender Carragher told Sky Sports: "It's interesting because the story the whole season has been there when Liverpool will start playing as last season.

"But it may come to the stage where we ask: is Liverpool perhaps something different this season?

"Do not forget there is no Philippe Coutinho. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain took a good run and beat from the midfield. The front three were out of the World Cup as well.

"You have now got Virgil van Dijk and a goalkeeper. Is it any more like the Liverpool team I recorded?

"Last season, I said that the team is playing football that our teams never played. However, it's actually a bit back to maybe Benitez and Houllier's kind of time.

"They probably play a little more football than we did but they can actually rely on the defense to win them a game."
