Believe future car becomes a "tablet on wheels"

Volkswagen (VW) believes it is in violation of electric cars with a long range. By 2025, the world's largest automaker plans to introduce more than 20 full electric models and sell one million electric cars annually.

– From 2020 we will get the first model, the compact car I.D. The same year, I.D. Crozz, says Anita Svanes, communications manager at Volkswagen and Harald A. Møller as.

With the I.D. models, for the first time, VW is building completely electric cars with the new MEB platform as a technology backbone.

The first is a car similar to Golf, but with internal size as a Passat. Crozz is a four-wheel drive SUV and an expected area of 500 km. Also minibus id. Buzz is presented, a car similar to the classic VW minibus.

Artificial intelligence

The fourth model presented in the family I.D. is Vizzion. This is launched as a future car with artificial intelligence and learning features. The car will work both as a private car and in a sharing fleet.

Inside, Vizzion should have an interactive lounge, it will be like a tablet on wheels, promising the manufacturer.

It will be completely self-propelled and becomes like a private driver where the digital "driver" with his safety system takes control of the car.

The concept drives, controls and navigates completely automatically in traffic, giving everyone onboard the opportunity to spend time working on them, watching movies or simply relaxing.

Using Microsoft's AR technology, Holholen, the driver should be able to use movements to communicate with the car's virtual assistant. Voice control is also included in the system. The area is planned at 665km according to the NEDC standard, mentioned in the review.

Electric at the peak of sales

The registration data from the Road Traffic Advisory Board (OFV) until September show signs that the change has begun.

VW has registered the most new cars for so long years with 14 766. Of these, 4854 are pure electric cars and 2398 plug-in hybrid, ie cars that can both be connected and powered by fossil fuels. Still, VW sells most cars with conventional internal combustion engines – a total of 7504, with overweight of gasoline.

Number two on the list is Toyota with 11,622 sales, of which they are 10,912 with hybrid engine technology. This system charges the electric motor with fossil fuel. Nissan is the third most sold car brand, where 9350 of 10 820 are electric cars.

In addition, BMW is fourth in full swing against electrification. Of 8995 new registrations are 4000 electric cars and 3020 plug-in hybrid.

Communications Director Marius Tegneby in BMW Norway confirms the trend.

– The electric car i3 accounts for one third of sales. Much of the other is sold as a charge hybrid. By 2025, BMW plans 25 new power models where 12 are full-electric. We aim to sell only zero emissions or low emissions cars in 2025. There is no doubt that it will be the way.

New battery technology

Information Manager Espen Olsen in Toyota Norway says they are working on next-generation solid state batteries. This plan will be much more compact and energy efficient batteries than today's lithium batteries.

"It is said that this will come between 2020 and 2025. However, we will bring new electric cars from 2020, probably with lithium batteries we have experience through the hybrid system.

Olsen points out that the development of electric cars is fast, but that the internal combustion engine can have a long future.

– Maybe not with us where the authorities are clear that they want zero emissions before 2025. Much of the developments are tax-managed. In Africa and Asia, they do not have the same opportunity that the internal combustion engine can live for a long time. We also have good faith in hydrogen, especially for larger vehicles.

Trendsetter from Hyundai

A car manufacturer who rely on all available engine technology is Hyundai. Recently, the brand Kona Electric launched. A car that points to a direction of development. For a price above 300,000, you will come closer to 500km of realistic range. The problem is that you have to expect 24 months of delivery due to high demand.

Korean now sells most of the electric cars in Norway. The hydrogen car, now recently launched as Nexo, was registered only 14th to September. However, the system of weighing of the electric motor that emits only water vapor may be a part of the future. Audi recently signed a collaboration with Hyundai on the exchange of technology.

"In our system there are electric cars and hydrogen cars we believe in as the big drivers," says product manager Øyvind Knudsen in Hyundai Norway.

He believes it is important to remember that small petrol cars are at least as environmentally friendly as large hybrids, and that modern diesel engines have also become much more environmentally friendly than before.

"Within a few years, we offer rechargeable systems on all our models. These charging systems are probably a transition phase, but I think that phase can be long," says Knudsen.

Safer cars

Road Safety Advisor Anne Beate The bid in MA Stainless Traffic believes that the future's passenger car will be electrically and packaged with new technologies that make it more traffic safe.

– When replacing lithium with solids in the batteries, we can talk about ten times more efficient batteries. Then the discussion discussion will be uninteresting. For a while, I think it will run in parallel. During a 20-year period, I think it's realistic that most of the car parks in the country are emissions-free, "says Budalen.

"For heavy vehicles, I think hydrogen is the future because it gives the opportunity to fill more. But for passenger cars, given that we get more efficient batteries, I think the electricity is better.

The budget means that we should not sit still and wait for new and improved technology.

"In Norway we stand in a unique position with good advice so that we have the opportunity to participate and try new technology. We are a small market, but we have come a long way and listen.

"Today, we see that more expensive cars come with automatic brake systems, known as AEB, which means that the car will brake even if the driver does not. Such equipment will eventually be available even on models that can afford more. This leads to fewer accidents .

Similarly, speed adjustment is done automatically. In the future, the car will not allow you to cross the speed limit. The budget also believes that there will be an alchohol on cars, so you will not be able to drive the car if you suffer from alcohol.

Imagine self-drive takes time

But it is likely that the car will be completely self-propelled.

"On some Norwegian roads it is possible to get to. But with our web of big and small roads, I do not think it's realistic in the foreseeable future." But who knows? In a science fiction scenario, there are also cars that can be converted into one helicopter.
