Gaultier is the latest fashion designer to stop using fur

PARIS (AP) – Parisian Couturier Jean Paul Gaultier has become the latest fashion designer to reduce the use of fur in his pattern.

In a Canal + interview that fled over the weekend, Gaultier announced that he would go free "to come to a page of creativity that will not hurt, because the death of the animal is completely regrettable."

The decision follows similar moves in recent years by Gucci, Burberry, Tom Ford, Versace and Maison Margiela, among others as key players in the industry hit back on the coat.

The France-based Brigitte Bardot Foundation welcomed the announcement that it was "unthinkable" that Gaultier used fur from "so much animal welfare".

Gaultier stopped wearing clothes for clothes in 2014. Since then, he has concentrated on priced and fur-hard haute couture design.
