Soon condoms will be repaid on medical prescription

"Starting December 10th", the French will be able to get rid of"boxes of 6, 12 or 24 condoms (…) at the pharmacy for the preparation of prescriptions by doctors or midwives"said the Ministry of Health in a statement.

Refunded for services rendered

The current brand is Eden, from the French Majorelle Laboratory, who in June had requested and received a favorable opinion from the Health Organization, and ruled that the service made by his male condoms could justify compensation from sickness insurance.
"The management and recipe of Eden will help revive the condom image, giving a strong signal that it is not a sexual gadget but a real tool for substantial prevention, (and allowing) to develop its use, especially with young people and new Users whose purchasing power is very limited"said Majorelle in a statement, the first laboratory to implement such an approach.

6000 new cases each year in France

"We can now when we are young or when we present special risks, or not elsewhere, when we are a woman or when we are a man, go to his doctor and get condoms reimbursed on prescription"explained Agnes Buzyn.
"Today, we discover about 6000 new cases (of HIV status, ed) each year, (…) especially among adolescents, about 800 to 1000 new cases among people under the age of 25 who often use condoms for their first intercourse, but not in the following documents"she said.
