The OCP Group's commitment to HSE Excellence (Hygiene, Safety and Environment) was awarded a gold medal from the International Fertilizer Association (IFA).
The prize was presented to the Group CEO, Terrab Marg on the side of IFA's strategic forum in Beijing, China. This opening, which 22 companies were awarded this year over 400, confirms the OCP Group's strong commitment to promoting a demanding culture for health and safety based on anticipation, prevention and risk and continuous mobilization of all employees. The renewed ambition of this HSE commitment is to provide all employees and its subcontractors with a work environment in line with international hygiene and safety standards. The group has launched the "Zero Incident" project to anchor a world-class security culture and harmonize HSE best practice in its various locations and utilize its joint venture with Dupont, world leader in the HSE. In addition, the Group is actively working to improve its environmental impact. In this regard, emissions of carbon dioxide emissions are reduced by almost 1 million tonnes per year, which means that the link between the Khouribga mine and the Jorf Lasfar conversion site over a distance of 235 km. OCP has also recently launched a circular economy program aimed at becoming a champion in the fertilizer industry in terms of the circular economy and conservation of resources. For example, the implementation of sulphate technology is a first in the fertilizer industry that enables the elimination of SO2 gas emissions, which through this process is converted to sulfuric acid reused in the production chain. OCP advocates conservation of resources and has implemented a water energy program that has been supported by European Green Financing, which aims to promote alternative clean energy and the use of unconventional water resources for its industrial needs. Thus, 35% of water consumption in the Group's industrial areas comes from decomposition and wastewater treatment, and the Group's production facilities are supplied with 75% pure energy.
