A well-known futurist in technology world, Michael Ludden, an artificial intelligence expert, arrives in Lithuania. November 15 Baltic Mobile Congress, a virtual and complementary executive specialist at the International Mobile Conference in Vilnius, will tell how our lives will be replaced by a virtual and complementary reality. According to him, very interesting changes are waiting for us.
Muddy Ludden, a technology supplier at IBM Watson, Samsung, Google and others, says today we meet artificial intelligence every day and over the next 5 years it will cover all our areas of life.
You are co-author of several books on transhumanism and supernatural reality. These publications will soon come to bookstores. Who are you most interested in today's technical innovation?
Today, it is most interesting for me to observe the effects of artificial intelligence on the virtual and complementary realities and how it will change the world in which we live, work and study. Image technology, a virtual and enhanced reality, is already applicable to education, sports, treatment and safety. It is therefore my great pleasure to look at the unexpected areas of our lives in the coming decade to embrace this technology and how it will change our everyday lives positively.
Artificial intelligence has the ability to learn and improve. What, in your opinion, is the level he achieved at this time?
I always say there are two ways to talk and evaluate artificial intelligence. First and foremost, there is a narrow artificial intelligence that performs some things very well, but it is not possible to decide independently to study and develop in other areas. For example, researchers can learn such artificial intelligence to defeat the world's best strategy player Go, but this artificial intelligence will never succeed with love affairs.
What's the other way?
It is self-evolving artificial intelligence that can decide what you want to do. He is, for example, good at playing chess, but he himself decides he wants to learn to draw, and that's what he's doing well. Currently in the world we have many examples of narrow artificial intelligence, but we do not have any other type yet. Unfortunately, we are still quite far from him, and it is still difficult to predict when artificial intelligence will reach a higher level.
Skeptics are afraid that a virtual reality will take away their work from people. Could this happen?
Looking at the story, we see that people have always feared that technology will take its place and remove its work. On the other hand, experience shows that they help to make work faster, easier and more effective. Many years ago, people built pyramids and stone wings themselves, and today, builders can handle large machines that make their work easier. Thanks to artificial intelligence, people no longer need to enter data in Excel program tables or do other digital work performed better by devices. People will not go, they will simply handle these processes.
What, in your opinion, can still be expected from artificial intelligence after 5 years?
In the five-year perspective there will be no area where artificial intelligence will not be applied. Everything – from medicine to games, from business to marketing – will inevitably be influenced by artificial intelligence. I think it will not take five years to come when artificial intelligence becomes routine in our everyday lives.
