PM Narendra Modi Attacks Rahul Gandhi, asked did Nana-Nani Lay water pipes?

Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday attended a congress at a Chhattisgarh election and said that the party that had ruled India for most of its independent history had sought to improve the fortunes of the Nehru-Gandhi family instead of developing the country. Appealing to Congressman Rahul Gandhi, who has accused BJP of corruption and chronic capitalism, asked PM Modi if his "grandparents" helped Chhattisgarh progress by laying out water pipelines.

"Why did not you do it for 100 years? You were there for four generations, but why did not you?" Can you answer that? "Did you drop water pipes? nana nani, dada dadi (grandparents) put it down? And did Raman Singh come and destroy it? First, you give us an explanation of why you did not. Come ask why we could not, PM Modi said at a meeting in Ambikapur.

Does the Congress dare to let someone outside the Gandhi family be party party for at least five years, said the 68-year-old leader, first then he would think that its icon Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru created a truly democratic system.

"They (Congress) have kept the land in the dark with their lies that are involved in their minds," he said.

He also emphasized how his humble beginnings were strongly different from Congress. "Only one chai wala (te-sellers) can understand the feeling of what poor people are going through, not those who run abroad, said the prime minister.

Chhattisgarh votes for his composition elections in two phases where BJP's Raman Singh is seeking a fourth term as prime minister. The first phase, held on Monday, saw an encouraging dividend of over 76 percent despite maoist threats. The second phase will be held next Tuesday. Results for the election will be declared on December 11 together with those for four other states.
