Anti-corruption activist Agnes Kharshiing attacked Meghalaya



GUWAHATI: Outstanding anti-corruption and justice activist, Agnes Kharshiing, was attacked in the eastern Jantia Hills of Meghalaya by unidentified miscreants.

Anges suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a hospital. She has been suing for uneven coal smuggling in the Jaintia Hills region in recent years.

Colonel Conard Sangma strongly condemns the attack on Agnes Kharshiing and her team, who were in Jaintia Hills. "We have issued the necessary instructions to the police and district administration to investigate the issue and seize them behind the attack."

He added: "Civil society plays an important role in a democratic system, as it helps to highlight people's concerns. Violence in some form will not be tolerated and the government will take all necessary steps to ensure that those attacked by the attack face the trial. "
