The joint interdisciplinary exercise of Greece – Egypt – Cyprus begins



From 23 November, joint cross-border exercise of Greece-Egypt, under the name "Medusa 7 – Alexandroupolis 18" with the participation of the Cypriot Armed Forces.

In particular, the Greek Armed Forces will participate in

  • 3 frigates with organic helicopters,

  • 2 missiles,

  • 3 Chinook helicopters,
  • 4 aggressive helicopters AH-64,
  • 2 Marine Squads and Special Forces Unit Personnel.

National Guard will participate in:

  • 1 offshore vessel,
  • Staff in special forces.

Egypt's armed forces participate in:

  • 1 helicopter (Mistral class)
  • 1 frigate,
  • 1 submarine,
  • 2 missiles,
  • 6 aircraft F-16,
  • 1 warning aircraft E2-C,
  • Staff in special forces.

The purpose of the exercise, to be completed on November 30, is to further promote cooperation between the participating countries' defense forces by improving the degree of operational training in a multi-threat environment, a related announcement from the General Secretariat of Defense.
