The Mainz bus search is over. Achim Beierlorzer (51) is the new coach. He gets a contract until 2022!
Crazy: On the last day of the coach in Cologne was fired because of failure – a day before Sandro Schwarz (41) in Mainz. He was kicked out for losing eight of eleven Bundesliga games. But he got more points (9) than his successor (7) and also won the direct comparison in Mainz 3-1.
Sport Board Rouven Schröder (44) and Beierlorzer know each other for many years from Fürth. Schröder began his career there, Beierlorzer trained at U17. Schröder quickly brought Beierlorzer into the game as a successor to Schwarz. Last Monday, he drew up a list of priorities and in the middle of the week he contacted the coach. It was then resolved on Friday its contract with FC. On Monday afternoon, the two things made perfect sense.
Schröder: "Achim Beierlorzer is a typical coach for Mainz 05 in terms of content and content. He is an accurate and reflective football expert who has taken a tremendous personal development."
Beierlorzer on the rapid change: "Of course, this is a curious situation in football: A week ago I was still a coach in Cologne, now I am introduced to Mainz as head coach. It can sometimes be fast in this industry, especially if it just fits . "
