Infrastructure projects occur for the port of Puerto Williams and Puerto Toro on Navarino Island
The port infrastructure in the province of Antarctica presents important progress in port work. There is a large multifunctional dock in Puerto Williams that would start working in 2020. In Isla Navarino, there is a ramp where boats can be docked as well as medium and small vessels that would start construction in early 2019. In Puerto Toro, it is designed to work primarily so that ferries and small vessels can come in and unload.
The projects are within the budget of the Magallanes plan announced by President Sebastián Piñera during his visit to the region in October. Of the 250 billion that will be invested in the region, 100,000 will be for the Antarctic province.
In total, approximately 29 billion pesos will be invested for these jobs with resources from regional and sectoral funds.
