The driver escapes crashing the critically injured cyclist

A man suffered a serious head injury when he was defeated by a vehicle while cycling near the junction of Elgin Street and Laurier Avenue W. on Thursday morning.

It happened at 7:20 pm on the Laurier Avenue W. roads, not far from the Queen Elizabeth Driveway traffic joining Laurier.

The cyclist, who believed he was between 55 and 60 years old, suffered several system trauma and head injuries after being thrown by his bike, according to paramedics.

The driver of a black cabinet stopped at the Mackenzie King Bridge nearby, leaving his vehicle and escaped the scene, according to Ottawa police.
