"Forest destroyer" is being paned
Greenpeace activists climbed at the Vancouver Convention Center, Wednesday, and hung a banner protesting against corporate influence on climate change.
Two climbers wound up a banner that read "Forest Destroyers Forum."
"Greenpeace is here today to call up the companies that break their promises to finish deforestation," says Daniel Brindis, spokesman, to CTV News.
The demonstration coincided with the forum for global consumer goods.
The organization promised in 2010 to reach zero forest breaking by 2020, but Greenpeace International says that it is not done enough.
After making the mortgage, Greenpeace estimates that approximately 50 million hectares of forest will have been destroyed, mostly driven by the cultivation of soy and palm oil, logs for the production of paper and board and livestock rearing.
