Edmonton police issue Amber Alert for boy, 8, abducted by his mother

Edmonton's police last Friday issued an amber warning for a boy they say was abducted earlier in the afternoon by their mother.

The eight-year-old boy is believed to be in "imminent danger," police said.

"The public is advised not to approach the suspect."

Noah Ducharme was abducted at 2:50 from Waverley Elementary School in the 68th Street and 89th Avenue area, police said.

Noah is four meters long and about 70 pounds, with short brown hair.

He had a dark green hood, bright jeans and yellow and black Nike prescription glasses.

The police said that Noa was abducted by his mother Brianne Hjalte, 31.

Hjalte is described as five feet seven and about 180 pounds, with dark shoulder length hair.

She had a dark jacket and dark pants.

Hjalte and Noah left the area on foot west on 89th Avenue, police said.

They think they are traveling in a silver 2008 Jeep Patriot with Alberta plate ZWK 844.

Anyone who sees the car, Hjalte or Noah, is asked to call EPS immediately by calling 780-423-4567 or # 377 from a mobile phone.
