Additional exterior upgrades, depending on the trim, include a tailgate with available hands-free function, a quick-angle slope / sliding assembly and heated auto-damping and damper mirrors. Furthermore, blind spot information systems, rear cross-sectional monitors, and front and rear parking sensors are available driver-assisted technology. Available premium features include the second line of sun protection, wireless charging, built-in Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System, 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi[ii], premium sound and HondaLink® cloud-based services, including remote locking, concierge services, stolen vehicle tracking and more.

All 2019 Honda Pass ports are powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine that provides 280 horsepower and 262 lb.ft. of torque (SAE networks), place Passport in its highest class for standard horsepower in a segment where some competitors offer less powerful 4-cylinder engines as standard equipment. Honda I-VTEC® The V6 is adapted to the latest generation of Honda 9-speed automatic transmission (9AT), which is among the most advanced in the class, offering smooth and responsive power supply.

The core of rugged weather and off-road driving is Honda's available i-VTM4 ™ wheel drive system. Unlike most competing systems, the i-VTM4 ™ uses the active torque vector to send up to 70 percent of the engine's torque to the rear axle and 100 percent of the torque to either the left or right rear wheels. This capability gives Passport excellent handling under all conditions, such as snowboarding or snowy roads or sandy trails, while also contributing to more responsive performance by exaggerating the outer rear wheel. In addition, Intelligent Traction Management (ITM) is standard on both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive Passport. In all-wheel drive applications, the four-mode ITM systems work in combination with the i-VTM4 ™, enabling drivers to customize the driving range performance for different weather and terrain, including sand, snow and clay. In front-wheel drive models, the system has two modes for normal and snow conditions.

Tested in the world's toughest environments, including the sand in Dubai, muddy roads in Russia and snowroads in Minnesota, the combination of i-VTM4 ™ and Intelligent Traction Management Passport makes more skilled off road than many unibody SUVs, giving drivers the confidence to take deal with not only wet or rainy conditions, but also a variety of hard terrain areas.

The suit is well-equipped for towing, with a capacity of 5,500 pounds on front-wheel drive models and 5,000 pounds on wheeled models when both are equipped with optional towing kit. Passport is the gateway to adventure that can drag trailers, boats or "toy holders" across more rugged terrain. The multi-frame standard backside makes it easier to connect to a trailer with its overhead option, giving the driver a bird's eye view of the hitch and the trailer.

Exterior design and platform

Honda's most robust light truck, Passport's expressive design leaves no doubt about its adventure-seeking mission and is highlighted by its higher driving height, standard 20-inch wheels, 245 / 50R all-weather tires and sporty styling signals, including a matte black grid and bumper, blackout headlight and black wheels. LED headlights, gloss black trim, a "floating" C-pillar and chrome exhaust release hint at Passport's remodeling. Trim-exclusive wheel design is available across the board, and Touring and Elite trims offer upgraded 265 / 45R20 tires as standard equipment.

Passport's design also offers excellent functionality. The ground clearance is 0.8 inches on front-wheel drive models and 1.1 inches on wheel-drive models compared to Passport's three row siblings, Pilot, while its shorter overall length and shortened rear overhang offer better approaches, retraction and refraction angles, suitable for more rugged terrain .

The wider wheels and tires of the passport complement their sporty and sporty approach and support both responsive city management and increased grip off-road. A sturdy designed front edge stands out on its way with its repfast mat finish that suits the off-road adventure Passport is intended for.

The passport is based on Honda's Global Light Truck platform and shares much of its underlying structure with three-row Pilot SUV and Ridgeline pickup, including its high rigid unibody construction. This platform has a fully boxed floor that is sophisticated but still strong with a four-wheel suspension suspension, with MacPherson strut in front and a multilink independent rear. The latest generation of Honda's proprietary Advanced Compatibility Engineering ™ (ACE ™) body structure, provides outstanding front impact protection and collision compatibility with larger and smaller vehicles.

Interior and packaging

The pass's modern and sophisticated interior offers ample space for five people and provides a leading passenger volume of 115.9 cu.ft and the best interior volume of 157.1 cu.ft. From Sport to Elite trimmer, Passport has high-quality interior features, including attractive and durable fabric on sports or perforated leather on EX-L, Touring and Elite trims, a blackout headliner and generous use of soft surfaces on the dashboard and doors. .

The interior of the pass also offers class-leading tools. Behind the second row of places is a load area generously sized for weekend camping trips or trips to home improvement shop, with 41.2 cu. ft. of space, expandable to 77.9 cu. ft. with the second line folding, which is more than enough to accommodate mountain bikes or a week's worth of camping equipment. From the cargo space, the second carriage cover folds at a push of a button, and Passport's main load floor is reversible between matte and easy to clean hard plastic surfaces. The passport has class-leading floor storage, with 2.5 cu. ft. of easy-access bin, which can be accessed with removable washable compartments, including a custom tray for storing the available accessory holder.

There is also plenty of room for small things. Passport offers generous storage space for front passengers, including a large center console between the front seats with a rolling lid that acts as a tray when it is closed. Further storage is in the doors and before the pushbutton selector.

Packed with available modern conveniences like an audio and connectivity system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto ™ integration and a digital drive, Passport delivers all the modern technology that today's SUV buyer demands.

Passport Sport trim comes standard with a 215-watt audio system with a 5-inch display and 6 speakers, plus a subwoofer. Pass the EX-L, Touring and Elite trims feature Honda's 8-inch Display Audio touchscreen system with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto ™ smartphone integration and manual power / volume control. The Display Audio system uses gestures that are common to smartphones and tablets, such as sweep, tap and pinch, to control vehicle sound systems, monitor settings, and other advanced features. Intuitive and easy to use, with a simplified menu structure, it also offers customizable shortcuts for common features and customizable apps. Passport Touring and Elite trims come with a 590-watt 10-speaker premium audio system.

The pass instrument cluster uses a 7 inch thin film transistor (TFT) screen with a wide range of information content. In addition to displaying typical vehicle features such as vehicle speed and speed, the full-color digital meter includes a Multi-Information Display (MID) with customizable features such as audio system information, detailed travel computer, phone information and turn-by-turn routing on Passport models equipped with navigation. Drivers navigate with the new TFT using steering controls designed for intuitive use, eg. Bluetooth® Phone buttons that differ slightly when touched.

Touring and Elite Trims of Passport provide 4G LTE in-vehicle Wi-Fi TCU that can support up to seven devices and a free 90-day / 3GB trial AT & T data plan. TCU is the key to Passport's support from many HondaLink® cloud-based services. With the help of an app, owners can keep track of maintenance and even book meetings, remembering their Passports location, starting their Passport, and many other features.

Security and driver assistant technology

Honda Sensing® A range of advanced safety and driver assisted technology is standard on all 2019 Pass-trims. Honda Sensing® helps to raise awareness of driving conditions around the vehicle, in some cases, helps drivers maintain the driving position and, under certain circumstances, slows or even stops the vehicle if it detects a potential collision. Honda Sensing® Includes Collision Reduction Brake System (CMBS ™) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Road Departure mitigation (RDM), including Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assistance System (LKAS) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). The new passport was designed to provide high active and passive safety performance and pay attention to a NCAP 5 star total vehicle rating safety rating and an IIHS TOP SECURITY SHIPPING rating. All tested 2019 model-year Honda vehicles achieve a NCAP 5-star overall rating for vehicle classification.

All Passport trimmer are equipped with a multi-rear rear camera with an overview "bird's eye view", ideal for trailer couplings. Additional available driver assistance technologies include Dynamic Rear Camera, Blind Point Information System (EX-L, Touring and Elite) with rear transverse detection, and front and rear parking sensors (Touring and Elite).

A wide range of Honda Original accessories are designed for Passport, including roof boxes of different sizes, roof tops and roof mounted bikes, kayaks and ski or snowboard holders. Inside, passengers can weatherproof their load area with hard plastic covers for floors, sides and backrests. The floor coverings can be divided by separate removable and washable bearings.

For those seeking a more sophisticated urban look, there are a variety of cosmetic exterior items, such as a colored graphics package, underwear welcome lights and illuminated door frames. From the outset, Passport will be available with two accessory packages. The adventure package adds boards, a trailer, a roof rack and more for outdoor trips. The urban package presents front and rear sub-coils, unique 20-inch wheels, cargo storage and roof rails and cross bars for a sophisticated in-town look.
