A 29-year-old woman died of visceral leishmaniasis in Araçatuba (SP). According to the Health Department, death was on Friday (23), but only confirmed the cause on Tuesday (27).
The victim lived in the area of Jardim do Trevo. This year there have been three deaths and 13 cases of the disease in the city. Last year, two deaths and nine people were ill.
Visceral leishmaniasis is a contagious disease that causes prolonged fever, enlarged liver and spleen, weight loss and anemia. It is sent by halmmosquito.
The mosquitoes are small and have yellowish or straw-colored properties and in sleep mode their wings are sturdy and semi-open.
Transfers occur when infected honey or other infected animals, and then puts the man in the transmission of protozoan.
