The degree of attack in Cataguases is 2.82% of the mosquito, according to research
The endemic control center for the municipal health department held the fourth arranger of the fourth LIRAa and LIA of 2018 from 22-26 October. This is the Fast Index Survey of Aedes Aegypti and Aedes Albopictus (LIRAa) and Amostral Index Survey (LIA), which are methods used to identify and map the presence of mosquitoes that transmit dengue and other diseases in the municipality, an initiative encouraged by health.
According to the coordinator of the endemic control unit Cosme Tadeu Alves da Costa, the fourth survey coincides with the rainy season of the year and should therefore be considered more important – not that the other investigations were conducted every two months is not relevant – as it is the time most contributing to the spread of vectors. At this fourth stage, the number of properties investigated by groups of endemic agents in the city 1,027, of which 29 revealed the presence of Aedes aegypti, corresponding to the mosquito infection index of 2.82%.
The results of LIA showed the rural areas with the presence of the vectors, when 936 properties were investigated, of which 11 had Aedes aegypti, which means an attack index of 1.17%. Ten sites were examined and four had positive results for the mosquito. In rural areas, the main vessels were water containers, bowls, drinking fountains in general, ornamental fences and building materials, and tires and other rolling materials that Cosme dos Santos could remove. Still in the report, ten characteristics were present in Aedes albopictus, which means an infestation rate of 1.07%.

Cosme dos Santos also said that as a strategy to combat vectors, the Endemic Control Center maintains its daily work on focusing and eliminating deposits. The surveys show the most critical areas where work is done with greater emphasis and works with all blocks in those areas where the results were positive using larvicide and mechanical control, which is the elimination of deposits, actions initiated immediately following the results of LIRAa and LIA. The coordinator also said that, according to several infectors in the country, next year there is a great opportunity to have a dengue epidemic, since the rain since 2018 has been higher than previous years, the dengue is a seasonal disease and studies show that epidemics occur every two years. "But it's possible to interrupt this bike with the awareness of the people and everyone's work so that the dengue is truly extinct from our country," he concluded. (Photos: Archive)
