Onegin with patina 2006



Pushkin’s epic poem “Eugene Onegin”, which served as a model for opera by Peter I. Tchaikovsky, had a decisive influence on Russia’s cultural life in its socially critical, sometimes parodic, style. The extent to which these topics are relevant to today’s society could not be clarified by director Dmitri Tcherniakov at the premiere on Sunday at the State Opera.
