Newly discovered region in the brain can be part of what makes us unique


The function of Endorestiform Nucleus is still unknown, but is close to the intersection of the brain and spinal cord in the inferior cerebellar peduncle, an area combining sensory and motor information to refine our balance, posture and fine engine control. For that reason Professor Paxinos theorizes the new region can play a role in fine motor movements and can help in seeking treatments for diseases such as Parkinson's and motor neuron diseases.
