A new set of alien signals has been taken from the direction of two galaxies beyond our own Milky Way.

So-called Fast Radio Outbreak (FRB) is one of the more enigmatic and inexplicable cosmic phenomena that have recently occurred. A few dozen of the powerful, volatile pulses have been discovered over the past 12 years, and Russia's Pushchino Radio Astronomy Observatory reported nine more on Friday.

The announcement comes on the heel of a major milestone published Thursday there Researchers tracked a non-repeating FRB to a source galaxy for the first time.

Russian researchers found the new blasts in archive data from 2012 to 2018. They came from the direction of the galaxies M31 and M33, which are among the closest our own Milky Way. The effect of the deficiencies, however, suggests that they originate from much further away, that is, behind the two neighboring galaxies.

One of the shortcomings of the M33 direction was also observed to repeat; This would be just the third repeated FRB ever discovered. Repeating FRBs should also be easier to trace to their source.

It is still unclear what generates FRB, but proposed causes have included everything from neutron stars to extraterrestrial intelligence. Every new discovery should bring us closer to solving the mystery.
